What we collect

From customers: name, email, phone number (optional), service address, and any notes you add to a booking request. From providers: business name, address, phone, email, the services you list, and the photos and text you put on your page. From both: the messages you send each other about a booking. If you sign up for the newsletter: your name and email, and your phone number if you choose to add it. We only text that number if you ticked the box for texts, and every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link. Businesses that sign up are added to the newsletter automatically and can unsubscribe the same way.

How we share it

When you submit a booking request, we share your contact details, service address, and notes with the specific business you're requesting — that's how they're able to respond to you. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with any business you haven't contacted.

Messages and reports

Messages about a booking are stored so both of you can see the conversation. AlignLocally staff don't read them as a matter of course. We may review the messages and booking details between a customer and a provider when either of them reports a problem, when we need to for someone's safety, or when the law requires it. A review is limited to the conversation connected to the report.

To answer a support request, AlignLocally staff can look up a single booking by its reference, or by the business and the day. Contact details on a booking are shown to staff only when needed for that request, and every such look is recorded.

Companies that help us run AlignLocally

We use a small number of service providers, only to run the service: Google Cloud (hosting and photo storage), Supabase (the database), Resend (sending email), Stripe (providers' subscription billing; we never see full card numbers), Google (only if you choose “Continue with Google”: we receive your name and email address from Google, never your Google password), and Anthropic (powers AliBook, the booking assistant providers can use, which reads that provider's booking details to answer them). They may only use your information to provide their service to us.

Texts and calls

We only text or call the phone number you provide if you separately check the box for it on the booking form. This consent is specific to that booking — it's not a blanket opt-in to marketing, and you can decline it without affecting your request.

Cookies

We use functional cookies only: one to keep you signed in, and one to remember whether you chose light or dark mode. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Booking records are kept as a history of work performed, similar to a receipt, for as long as the business has an account with us.

Businesses deleting their account:the owner can ask from Settings. The business's page is hidden from customers right away, and within 24 hours all its open requests and upcoming jobs are cancelled automatically (and those customers are emailed). Its data is fully removed within 45 days; until then the owner can download it at any time or keep the account. We then delete the business, its page, services, photos and booking records, and the owner's login, unless they've also booked other businesses as a customer with it; then it stays as their customer account. Our payment processor, Stripe, keeps its own billing records as the law requires.

Customerswho want their details removed can contact us, and we'll take care of it.
